About Living Myth
Living Myth Psychotherapy was created based on the belief that all our struggles, no matter how mundane, seed the narrative of a deeply meaningful personal mythology that is unfolding before us. The persistent pain points and intractable patterns in which we find ourselves stuck contain threads that can lead us on profound journeys that trigger unfathomable developments and openings in our personal evolution. By heeding the call of our listlessness and taking courageous steps toward our discomfort instead of away from it, we adventure into unknown territories and experience unprecedented change.
This is the foundation of the Hero's Journey, an ancient and universal narrative found in myths and stories that involves embarking on a transformative voyage, facing trials and obstacles, and ultimately emerging stronger, wiser, and more whole. This archetypal process lives deep within our psyches, and just as it is woven into our storytelling, it also embodies the way we naturally confront, seek support around, and reconcile our own conflicts and tensions.
Our mission at Living Myth is to awaken clients to the deeper processes existing beneath their day-to-day struggles that seek to forge them into becoming the heroes of their own stories.
Our Team
Dana Cohen, MA, LPCC, RYT
Focus at a glance: Neurodivergence, cPTSD & PTSD, borderline, autism, ADHD, OCD, depression, anxiety, autism, bipolar
Dana is a specialized therapist who works primarily with neurodivergence, specifically ADHD, OCD, autism spectrum, borderline spectrum, depression, anxiety, and bipolar. Many of her clients deal with symptoms across multiple diagnoses, which frequently intertwine or exacerbate one another. Dana is also highly skilled in addressing complex trauma, particularly from narcissistic family systems or relationship abuse. Her clients usually have a high capacity for introspection, but their self-awareness can magnify feelings of powerlessness when stuck in repetitive patterns. Dana believes these cycles of frustration are not indicative of failure but are instead a result of having to navigate a world misaligned with their brain's natural functioning. Her goal is to help clients foster acceptance and create a life that honors their unique selves.
Dana is a graduate of Naropa’s Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling Program, a certified yoga teacher (RYT-200), and a Somatic Experiencing Level I practitioner. She also has experience coaching individuals using the Enneagram to help them recognize and leverage their strengths. Before becoming a therapist, Dana attended a PhD program in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, studying entomology, and spent six years consulting in the Life Sciences industry. Her diverse background enriches her therapeutic approach, blending scientific insight with holistic healing practices.
